Towards an imperial judiciary?
A NON-LAWYER who considers the remarkable role of courts in the interpretation of the Constitution and the laws in the United States finds himself in a nevernever land-one in which questions he never dreamed of raising are discussed at incredible length, while questions that would appear to be the first to come to mind are hardly ever raised. This is particularly the case when the concern of the non-professional observer is with social policy rather than with constitutional law as such.
