A one time, a childs behavior was thought to be mainly, if not entirely, the result of how his parents behaved. Nice parents produced nice children, bad parents produced bad children. The pioneering study of delinquents written by Sheldon and Eleanor Glueck in the 1950s made it clear that poor parents created juvenile offenders.
