The war on testing: David, Goliath & Gallup

DESCRIBING the key New York State legislative battle in the war on testing, Edward Fiske, education editor of The Times, wrote last October that it had “the appearance of a David-versus-Goliath matchup. On one side, looking relatively weak, were representatives of a coalition of student and consumer groups. On the other was the giant $150 million-a-year testing industry, represented by some fancy Albany lawyers.”
