JUST AS Chicken Little continually announces that the sky is falling, so there are always policy intellectuals in the vicinity of Harvard Yard to lament the end of affordable housing and to proclaim the onset of a housing crisis. To quote MIT’s Bernard Frieden: “The cost of new housing today prices most American families out of the market .... Ownership of new homes is effectively limited to the top quarter of American families.”
